Parts of the Tampa Bay region dropped below freezing Friday morning as a cold snap that has chilled residents for most of the week continued.
The region will warm briefly this weekend when temperatures bump up into the high-60s and low-70s before another cold front rolls through Monday.
Brooksville saw the lowest morning temperature Friday at 26 degrees, said Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez.
Lows in Pinellas and Hillsborough floated between the upper 30s and low 50s. Valrico hit 31 degrees, Ruskin 38 degrees, Tampa 41 degrees. St. Petersburg dropped to 51.
It may feel a little warmer than it did Thursday because of a lack of wind, Marquez said. "We didn't have to worry about the wind chills like we did yesterday," she said.
Highs Friday will be in the mid-60s, Marquez said.
Friday night will be cold again, with temperatures in the 30s and 40s. Parts of Hernando County could see temperatures in the upper 20s and low 30s.
But Saturday will see temperatures climb as high as 70.
"That's going to feel great compared to the last couple of days," Marquez said.
Another cold front will begin to move through Sunday morning and temperatures will return to what they were this week.
